ZugInfo 1.1 – proposed features
After we got the shipping out of the way, let’s turn to more exciting things: the next version of ZugInfo. I already received a few feature request:
- Landscape mode for results
not sure about this one, maybe larger table cells instead… - History & favorites
very reasonable, I will try my best - “Zuglaufanzeige” (?)
Not sure, what that means. Maybe all stops and connections? You can find the on the second result screen (touch the connection) - Switch start and destination
already implemented, just hit the arrows next to the input fields. I will try to make this more visible in the next version
I came up with a few ideas myself
- Add to calender & send connection by e-mail
IPhone specific cool stuff (and I believe, quite useful) - Fare info & additional details
which also means, one has to set some preferences for the fare info - Improved backend
- I hate that I am currently parsing the webpage. Maybe someone from Deutsche Bahn can contact me and allow me to use a stable interface – meanwhile, improve html parser, especially allow for parser update over the internet (this is probably quite some work, so don’t expect that in 1.1)
- Details view should also be table – I used a simple view to get a nice background, but it’s not about the background baby, it’s about functionality
Please add all your feature requests as comments to this post and I will see, what I can do.

arrival information of trains already on the road, information about delays and their reasons

Hi,
very nice app! In my opinion, the already mentioned price info is one of the “hottest” feature request. In addition, please let us select, what sort(s) of train we want to use, that is “ICE” and/or “IC” and/or “RE/RB” …, because there are special prices at weekend depending on sort of train. Ticket’s name is “Wochenendticket” which is in fact limited to “RE/RB trains.

Hi,
I really like this tool. Unfortunately I cannot use it because it has a problem with ambiguous station names. Usually I go from Hamburg to Cuxhaven. If you try to look for Cuxhaven it would give you a list with possible names, That’s the same as with bahn.de website. So far so good. But now when I chose again “Cuxhaven” out of this list the application will tell me again that there’s several matches for station names and will come up with the same list whereby bahn.de website then will give me the correct connection to Cuxhaven. So now for me it’s impossible to get the connection displayed to Cuxhaven. Would be so great if this little bug could get fixed for the next version.
Besides that really a great app with an intuitive user interface. Much better than the web site.

Hey,
I just found your tool in the AppStore. Really cool and usefull stuff. Thanks
a lot for doing this.
A really cool feature would be, if it would be possible to save the last timetable. So it would be possible to have a look to the time and platform also when you are in the train without an Wifi.
An other idea would to toggle between departure and arrival time. Thanks a l lot for you app.
Greets and a great weekend.

Hi All,
thanks for liking the app and all the very helpful comments and feature request. Next week I will finalize the foreseen features for ZugInfo 1.1, which will probably arrive by the end of October. In the meantime, I will release a bug fix version next week (1.0.1), which addresses a bug found by Boris (see above), when the a non-unique location matches the original search location. The bug is found and fixed, but some additional coding was required, so I will test the application for a day or two, to make sure it works as expected.
One short answer to StinKA: The last search query is automatically saved and reloaded, if you quit the application in the result view mode.

Hello,
I’d love the opportunity to save frequently searched destinations. Like a button with which I can save a search “Munich – Hamburg” or so and then later just click on them to search for the same destination with another date or time.

Hi,
nice application — just a few comments:
- the endless loop for ambiguous station names can happen for several stations, including Elsfleth (my home station). Is it possible to fix it in a general way (seems to be a problem of mobile.bahn.de)?
- in addition to favorites (please do that — that would be useful), could you do “door-to-door navigation” based on the current location, maybe using something like the Google Maps API?
Thanks,
Dirk

Hi Martin,

Viel Erfolg!

I miss the oportunity to choose the time for arrival instead of the depart.
I also find a little Bug: If you enter a non unique Station, you’ll be asked for the right one. If you go back at this point (without choosing an station) and switch depart and destination you will be asked twice and depart and destination will become the same…

Cool App!
But I cannot scroll inside the connection when there are more than 8 transfers.

just one comment, in the german Version of Zuginfo is a red taskbar which says Wilkommen BUT in German it is written with a double LL – Willkommen…
maybe you can fix it next time

Hi,
